which one is the better
bullet?
| AK-47
Uses a minimalistic 30 caliber cartridge
(7.62x39) and is meant to be easy to manufacture.
It is accurate enough to produce inch or inch
and a half groups at 100 yards. But hitting
anything with one much past 200 yards is difficult
at best |
M16/AR15
The US switched to 223 caliber rifles during
the Vietnam war
The
223 ammunition has enough power to kill humans
or deer if not bears and cape buffalo, is accurate
out to several hundred yards and, with heavy
(75 - 95 grain) bullets and quick-twist barrels,
can shoot to 800 - 1000 yards. It is accurate
and allows rapid, well-aimed fire.
|
The test was to see which ammo is best and
which caliber perfoms best at 25 and 50 yards.
Both rifles were shot with 20 rounds in a
40 round magazine, from the bench with a sandbag
at 50 yards, and standing at 25 yards.

|
We used a few brands of ammo to allow for
issues with quality and performance of the
bullet. Wolf Steel case and Copper Jacketed
for the 7.62x39. And for the .223
we shot the Wolf, Sellier & Bellot,
and Olympic.
