Examples
of AK47 stamped receivers
The
stamped AK47 receiver is made from a flat sheet of steel.
It's pressed and bent into the shape to hold the
rest of the parts together in an AK47. They are well designed,
efficient and strong.
Here are some quick reviews of various AK47 stamped receivers
used to build an AK47

Four
examples of AK47 receiver styles, side by side. An
unbent flat, a Bent Flat (no rails or cross support),
a finished receiver and an 80% (or so) blank with
the shape, but no holes, dents or rails

These
three represent three stages in the creation of an
AK47 receiver on the left is the flat with holes
and dimples (dents) all in place , A bent flat that
has the general shape of an AK47, but it needs a
few final parts and a finished receiver as an example

These
blanks come with a pattern glued to them so
you'll know where to drill the holes.. the dimples
and various dents in a normal receiver? Well those
are not very easy at all with these 80% receivers

While
the plans are attached, they just need to move a
little bit to be useless, so be sure they are secured
well These blanks are also much longer than
an AK47
receiver

Flats
have all the dimples and holes in place, but they
need to be folded (bent) and the internal rails need
to be installed (with a spot welder ideally) also
these need to be hardened. While hardening a receiver
can be done with a torch, the pros send them to large
heat treating facilities to ensue the receivers don't
twist or change shape during the process
