| I own a RRA .223 AR-15 with S/S match barrel, match trigger, scoped and also a Romainian AK-47. Each gun is best in it's own right. The AR is more accurate, easier at 2nd shot target aquisition and cheaper to shoot. The AK is perfect for dumping alot of lead in any direction(Since rapid fire target aquisition is practically impossable)You never have to worry about jamminmg of hot firing and its just plain fun to shoot

| Not all AK47's are created equally. Some are very low quality. My AK's are not very accurate, but they do provide a bigger punch at close range. Overall the AK is easier to work on with less moving parts. I have never used either gun in combat so take my next comments with a grain of salt. For long distance shooting I prefer the AR15, for short range I prefer the AK - especially for a non-experienced shooter. The AR15 is a great weapon in the hands of an experienced shooter. To me the AR15 could have been a superior weapon if the military had just chosen a larger caliber round such as 6mm or 6.5mm. As it is, the AR is fun to shoot up to 400 meters, while some AK's are not even good up to 200 meters. I have SKS's that will shoot circles around the AK. I also do not like the scope mounting system for the AK47. The AR A3 flattop is superior for a scope mount. I would choose a 6.5 Grendel over the AK, but choose the AK over a .223 AR for combat. If I were just going to the range to shoot I would take the AR15 everytime.
