MAK90
and BWK92 side by side
Had
a chance to photograph two AK47s that are in unfired
condition. One is the MAK-90 7.62x39 the other is BWK-92
in 5.56x45 (.223) These two AK47s are quite similar
and were both imported from China durring the Assault Weapons
Ban. Because they were imported during the ban, they have
no muzzle breaks (or threaded barrels), bayonet lugs or
pistol grips. This Modification is where the M in MAK-90
comes from the 90 comes from the production date of 1990 the
BWK-92 was imported in 1992

From
a distance it's easy to see the difference in the
magazines on these two The
curved 7.62x39 magazine on the MAK90 is much more
bent than the slightly curved 5.56x45 magazine on
the BWK-92

|
|
Each round has a different shape. The 7.62x39 has a tapered shape and when stacked
side by side they form a curve. The 5.56x45 has a straight case, so it stacks
fairly straight. The 5.45 is in between with a slight curve. Their magazines
follow their shape as you can see

|
From
the top and sides the two look about the same

|
|
Looking
down at the smaller barrel of the 5.56x45 BWK92

|
|
Smaller
ammo means a smaller magazine and smaller magazine
well on the BWK92 in 5.56x45 (.223)

|
|
From
the bottom the two AK47s look about the same

|
|
The
two AK47s back to back. The MAK-90s are sometimes
incorrectly called MAC-90s possibly because of the
way MAC-10 is spelled ? BWK-92 are almost
always called a
MAK-90

|
As rare
as it is to find two AK47s like these
is such great condition, for them to have their manuals
is even more uncommon

|
|
Here are some scans of
the MODEL
MAK-90 and BWK-92 SPORTER .223 (5.56mm) instruction
manual that came with the rifles in 1990, These are
fairly hard to come by so we have scanned these AK47
manuals in and posted them for reference
