In all of our pics the Romanian in on
top and
the Yugo is below. Aside from the obvious difference
in stock they are almost the same. But there are
lots of differences once you get into the details. |
|
Some of
the differences include the front sight, the ribs on
the Yugo barrel, and the front handguards |
|
The
other side of the RPK barrels |
|
Another view of the front end assemblies |
|
Flipped upside down to see the other side,
Romanian in
on top, Yugo below. |
|
Another shot like above, showing the other
side of the front handguards |
|
They Yugo handguard is larger,
would this mean it can take more heat? |
|
The front sights on
both of these RPKs is basically the same as their
AK47 cousins
The Yugo
has the flip up night sights |
|
Here the Yugo RPK night sight
is flipped up, the big white dot glows in the dark |
|
Another view
of the RPK barrels, the same from 6 feet away, but
obviously different close up |
|
Romanian RPK on the right,
the Yugo RPK on the left. Looking down on the barrels
and sight systems
|
|
The upper handguards Yugo RPK to
the left the Romanian RPK on the right |
|
The rear
sights on the RPKs |

Once you
get to 100 yards on the top of the sight you flip it
up for the long distances |

This is
just a cool pic I think |
|
The RPK barrels again |
|
And the RPK
barrels back to back to get them a bit closer. As always
the Romanian is on top the Yugo below |
|
Same shot different angle |
|
The stocks on the two
RPKs |
|
Looking down on the receivers, well where
they would be. Notice
the different pistol grips and
rear trunion rivet patterns. It's also clear in this
shot that both RPKs had dimples in their receivers |
|
Another look of them side by side |
|
The stock
on the Yugo has a cross carved in one side, the Romanian
has a nice profile. Both good looking pieces of history. |
|
Close up of the stocks. The Romanian RPK
stock is shorter than the Yugo RPK stock |
|
Here are a
comparison of the two bolt carriers and the Romanian
RPK on top the Yugo below, hard to see in this pic
but the Yugo is not blued like the Romanian RPK bolt
carrier |
|
Showing another view of the Romanian RPK
bolt carrier and Yugo RPK bolt
carrier and a
US made AK gas piston which will also work with the RPK |
|
Another shot of the two RPK parts kits
side by side |
|
These will be some nice looking rifles
one day |
