at 1984 two BMP2 with 14 soldiers onboard and 1 Ural truck were send from Jalahlabad to "block-post" near "kishlak" (willage)Ghuljam with the mission to deliver more than 100 cases of ammunition. Approximately in 15 km from a block-post we have received the message by radio.The group of the "dushmans" (we called them "duh") cut off the road to block-post and moved on road and heights along it in our direction. There were 150-200 man. Wether condition was awful, something like dust storm, so we could not get any air support. But at the momen we had a great position. We placed one BMP between two large rocks covered this vehicle from the sides. The second one was plased behind the heap of the stones Both of them coverd the road with its aotomatic main guns and MG. And we had almost 50000 rounds of ammunition for AK74 and PKM mg. The shootout took around 5-6 hours. They attacked us by waves, one attack after another, trying to surround us. This day I shot more than 1000 rounds by myself, may be 1200. And I hadn't any single problem with my rifle. Three times I shot the "duhs" near the DShK 12.7 mg at range around 230-250 mtrs. This rifle is really accurate. And it saved my ass. |
